Jr./Sr. High School

Start of School Year Letter

Welcome Back AC Patriots! The start of the school year is here and we are excited to welcome the kids back to school! My name is Mr. Scott Harrington, the new 7-12 principal, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be here and a part of the Patriot Family! We are excited to kick the new school year off in-person on Wednesday, August 12th starting at 8:10 AM! Below I have linked several important documents for your reference as school resumes. There are some notable differences to the start of this year, including COVID-19 guidelines, new construction, and a new parking lot.

New Parking Lot - The new parking lot has been completed with new pick-up and drop-off lanes out front of the new office addition. Please refer to the map or screen recording below for specific instruction on picking up and dropping off your students. In addition to the new parking lot, junior high students in grades 7th & 8th will also be dismissed 5 minutes early every day at 3:30 (3:00 on Fridays!).

Schoology - Another change to this is an increased use of Schoology as the learning management system of the 7-12 building. All teachers will be posting weekly lesson plans to guide student learning, not only in-person, but also if we return to a remote learning environment. We will be sending out parent codes to you later this week which will allow you to log-in and to stay up-to-date on the progress of your students’ learning throughout the year.

Open House - will be Thursday, August 13th, from 6:30-7:30 at the high school. Parents and students are welcome to come in and get their schedule and other items. You will also be able to walk your students' schedule and meet the teachers. We will also have staff available to help you sign-in to Schoology as needed. The booster club will also be here selling their apparel.

First Day of School - Students will again have patriot period right away to start the day. Students will get their Chromebook, schedules, and masks in their Patriot Periods. Patriot Period assignments will be posted throughout the school for reference. We will also be explaining the COVID guidelines and other new procedures throughout the day.

Construction Updates - The round-a-bout on Highway 6 will not be completed until after Labor Day. Please plan accordingly as all traffic to and from the school and the elementary school will have to be from the North. The new entrance to the building will be open as school starts. The repaving of Adams Central Avenue heading north from the school to 12th street is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, August 12th.

For other COVID related changes, please see the 7-12 Academic Plan linked below. Thank you for trusting Adams Central to educate your student! We look forward to a great year! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
