During the night there was an active shooter situation in Juniata, near the Early Childhood Center. This situation ended at approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning, Aug. 11. The Nebraska State Patrol and the Adams County Sheriff's Office have both assured the district administration that it is safe to begin school at the regular times for Adams Central Elementary and Adams Central Jr./Sr. High School. There will be no staff at the Early Childhood Center Wednesday.
This afternoon, Adams Central administrative staff members were allowed into the Early Childhood Center in Juniata. After an initial walk-through, there appears to be no damage to school property or vehicles. The state patrol will finish its investigation sometime later today.
The Early Childhood Center will be open for students and staff for normal use beginning Thursday, Aug. 12.
